Microsoft Teams, one of the most widely used collaboration platforms, experienced a significant outage late Monday night, leaving thousands of users unable to connect, log in, or access essential features.
According to Downdetector, reports of Teams-related issues spiked dramatically around 11:09 PM (UTC), with 383 problem reports recorded-far exceeding the usual baseline of just 9 reports. This surge suggests a widespread disruption affecting users globally.
Microsoft Teams Faces Major Outage
User-reported data indicates that the majority of problems were related to:
- Server Connection Failures (60%) – Users struggled to establish connections with Microsoft’s servers, leading to disruptions in communication.
- App Malfunctions (26%) – Many reported unresponsiveness, crashes, or performance degradation in the Teams application.
- Login Issues (13%) – Several users were unable to sign in, further preventing access to chats, meetings, and shared documents.
A heatmap from Downdetector indicates that the outage affected multiple regions, with major service disruptions reported in North America, Europe, and parts of Asia. The nature of the outage suggests it could be related to a server-side issue affecting Microsoft’s infrastructure.
The outage impacted remote workers, businesses, and students who rely on Microsoft Teams for meetings and collaboration. Many reported being unable to access messages, video calls, and shared files.

Anyone having issues with Teams calling call queues? A user wrote.
“I just turned in a ticket with Microsoft. All of our Teams Phone customers are having issues with inbound calls to auto-attendants and call queues (resource accounts) ringing and then giving the error “the wireless customer you called is not available at this time. please try your call later,” another user wrote.
He also added that, All outbound calls are working and inbound calls to direct user numbers are working. Just not inbound to resource accounts. Are you having the same issue?
Matthew wrote “We cannot make any inbound calls to our teams voice main business numbers. other direct dial numbers work fine”.
Another user wrote “Auto Attendants inbound and Queues outbound are down. Basically all service-type numbers are down for us.”
As of now, Microsoft has not issued an official statement on the cause of the outage. Users are advised to check Microsoft’s official Twitter account and service status page for updates.
